Saratoga County is in the northeastern part of New York State, north of Albany, northwest of Troy, and east of Utica. It is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan area and the county seat is Ballston Spa. Since the construction of the Adirondack Northway in the 1960's Saratoga County has consistently been the fastest growing portion of the Capital District and indeed, of upstate New York. As of the census of 2000, there were 200,635 people, 78,165 households, and 53,699 families residing in Saratoga County.
